Vampire Knight

So I'm (codename: Angel) and I'm addicted to manga and comics.

I've been thinking I'll unload all my fangirling here. Trying to think of a nice name for it. Like Angel's Reads, Useless Thoughts, Angel's Book Club. Whatever. Not so much important.

According to mangaupdates.com I've read over 90 mangas and I'm in the process of reading 100... Idk how accurate that is because I have a ton of mangas that I've lost interest in or no longer being scanlated.

My current obssession right now is Vampire Knight. Omg, it's awesome. I've been following since the beginning and now it's about to end. *sad face*

For those of you who don't know about Vampire Knight here a summary from wikipedia.

 Yuki's earliest memory is of a stormy night in winter, where she was attacked by a vampire... And then rescued by another. Now 10 years later, Yuki Cross, the adopted daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, Kaien Cross, has grown up and become a guardian of the vampire race, protecting her childhood crush, Kaname, from discovery as he leads a group of vampires at the elite boarding school. But also at her side is Zero Kiryu, a childhood friend whose hatred for the creatures that destroyed everything he held dear leaves him determined never to trust them. This coexisting arrangement seems all well and good, but have the vampires truly renounced their murderous ways, or is there a darker truth behind their actions? Because in this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems. And the price of misplaced trust may even be worse than death. 

 It actually develops very well and this is without a doubt the best work Hino Matsuri has ever wrote (and I've read all her mangas).

Vampire Knight vs, Twilight

A lot of Twilight-haters always are the first people who are against this manga because people tend to relate this with the Twilight Saga. It does have their similarities at first because they are both written in a typical shoujo format --->Two guys who want one girl. But I can assure you, Vampire Knight is so much better and it doesn't have any awkward acting lol. The main herorine in Vampire Knight (Yuuki) unlike Bella (from Twilight) is a very strong headed character. She doesn't make ridculously stupid decisions (Yuuki decisions can be stupid, but they are often very well thought out) and she has some type of defense against vampires. Also the lead vampire (Kaname in VK) isn't as creepy as Edward (twilight). I also want to add, as the stories go on the plots get significantly different. Twilight is more realistic to teens, I guess. Whereas Vampire Knight is full of dark and twisted romanticsm. Also writing technique for Vampire Knight is on a whole different level. Every chapter has symbolism, foreshadowing, and suspense. Every chapter I keep screaming NOOO when Matsuri Hino throws another curve ball. Twilight's plot is very straight forward and lack much use of literary devices.

Symbolism in Vampire Knight:
Warning Spoilers below. I can't explain them very well but I want to put these open to discussion.

• Masks.
• White and Black Uniforms
• The length of Yuki's hair
• Heels
• Artemis (moon goddess)
• The name Yuki (snow/ princess)
• Roses

I can't really explain masks well  but I've noticed that they have a meaning. Ichiru wears a mask, the masquerade ball, the mask falling off Zero's face.  Little things.

I did take a lot of notice about the black and white uniforms. Notice this photo above? This was the promo art for Vampire Knight before it's actual release. I always wondered why did Hino draw them all in white when Yuki and Zero should be wearing black. This is actually foreshadowing future events. That they all turn into vampires O.o. Surprising enough, Zero is the only one who never actually wore a white uniform. He might in the future. Another big question is why Yuki and Kaname are on the same side of the fence while the rest are not. Probably a nod to their blood ties.

Yuki's hair represents who she belongs to. When her hair is long, she belongs to Kaname. When her hair is short, she belongs to Zero.
I guess heels and artemis are both a given because they are both explained in the book. Yuuki's name is actually a symbol itself. It could mean snow or princess. Yuki was found in the middle of snowy field by Kaname. and later she is the Princess of the Kuran House. Nice play on words, Hino.
The only symbolism I can't come to understand is Roses. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. Zero's tattoo, Yuuki's bracelet, Kaname's gift to Yuki, Kaname wilters a rose in the first chapter, Ichiru slashes the rose on Zero's jacket. I can't make sense of it.

Insta-Dump

It's a real shock that my viewership was so high and now it dropped so low...again... It's really my fault. I stopped blogging. I rejoined the real world, full of working people with such busy lives that taking the time to write a couple of sentances every other day has become a hassle. Then homework just adds onto that stress. FML to the max and all the homework I've managed to not do. Actually, I don't even recall the last time I did homework at home. When I get home, I read some manga and some blogs then go to sleep. Then I wake up super early so I can twitter stalk some singaporean bloggers. I come to realize that I have a boring life... Well not really, I just don't get to share my life much since I don't own a camera -___-". Black Friday should change that.

So to bounce back into the blogger scene I'm going to dump some photos here from my instagram and facebook.

#Disneyworld: I have a ton of photos from Disney that I have yet to edit. But I made a collage of the most memorable moments for me. Going to Disney was a great experience and it was honestly a very beautiful place.

Catching Up

Sorry that I've been away for so long. I've been going through the motions of work and school that I haven't got a chance to blog >.<. I promise that I'll be a better blogger. I'm drafting up several posts right now so I can keep that promise. I've been doing too much and I'm trying to transition some stuff out of my life.As a senior in high school this is the busiest time of my life. I'm trying to get ready for college and do well in the college classes that I'm currently taking. Next semester I will only have two classes so I'll have all the free time to enjoy life a little.  So for today I'll post two videos of me spinning an airblade for the first time. Within the next 3 days I'll post about my trip to DisneyCat

Is Ojiwaka Making a Come Back?

I think so.

The last time I really heard the word was in winter 2010/2011.

Vintage is always coming back in style but Ojiwaka is more of focus on style that grandparents used to wear.

If you have been into Forever 21 lately, a lot of their clothes are looking more like.

I have this dress btw and its only sold at select stores (not online yet) trolololol

And I was in complete shock when Liz Lisa completely let go of floral print from their Fall 2012 collection and supported the current trend of collars and adult hues. 

This overall makes Liz Lisa look alikes so much easier to find but the colors they have make me want to puke. Because last winter, I swear those hues of browns, light pinks, and white was the only colors I could ever find of clothes. It made me want to take some stupid fashion designer's head off. 

Idk if care so much now.If I ever need a color fix and no store seems to have, I can always rely on Hot Topic to be against mainstream. 

To be fair I don't think it's coming back to  extent it was back in 2010/2011

But I'm going to fall into that Ojikawa/Obakawa style this fall anyway (in full storm)

On another note, I've been really thankful for Tumblr because I found another Gaijin Gyaru blogger that I really like.

I really like her style because not only its more otona, it doesn't seem over done. That my problem with a lot of gaijin gyaru bloggers. Their makeup, to me, looks overdone and unflattering. Thats only my opinion though.

Fall 2012 Shopping Inspiration

So right now, I'm working extremly hard and get ready for school. It seems this year, I won't be able to participate in marching band (because there won't be one) so I'll be spending my time working and saving up for Japan (I'm going in March). I won't be posting much yet because (along with many other bloggers) I will be revamping my blog in late August (new layout, new theme, and daily posts)  so just be paitent.

I've been buying a lot of clothes for my planned otds and school. I didn't know if I was going for any certain style yet. I saw a new horizon while I was shopping. I live near the 11th biggest mall in the U.S and I know most of the stores but since I never had money, I was inclined to buy off clearance racks and not getting to buy really nice clothes which are already nicely priced.

Both my super cheap and cute favorite stores had already closed down (579 and Rainbows) so I began browsing some popular stores like Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Wet Seal, and Papaya.

Instinctly I began buying onee-gyaru style clothes. Its really not my fault, I feel like all the stores have the same color palette of clothes that nothing stands out. So the only style I could really buy and still be gyaru and untypical was otona style.

For the price, selections, and quality, Forever 21 beat out all competition and Papaya came in a close second.

I live near a Forever 21 megastore so it won't be hard for me to buy similar (and even exact) clothes to what Japanese Gals wear. I've been using Jugetta and Liz Lisa shop staff for some inspiration.

Liz Lisa shop staff has also been getting in touch with their otona style. It's so much easier to find look-alikes to their coordinates for Fall 2012 in comparison to their spring 2012 style.

Jugetta still manages to be more otona style, even though I stuff similar to Jugetta without trying, I don't think I'll fully dress so maturely. 

I think I forgot how much skirts characterize all gyaru-kei styles. This will reflect in a major style change because I never used to own many skirts. I always was jeans girl (I mean come on, as a high school student jeans are your best friend)

Tokyo Fashion has been a major help in my quest for insipration. Even though a lot of these styles are from March, they still do me some justice.

From Tokyo Girls Collection! I'm surprised I didn't see these sooner.

  Alot of those pictures featured gals in them and I think a lot of people need to realize- just because the power of makeup made MODELS gorgeous in magazines, doesn't mean it works for everyone.
