So I'm going to Japan

For the first time.


Trust me, I'm not calm. So much has been coming up lately and I can't really remain contained. So I'm going to blog up all my prep and the actual trip as it comes. I'm really stressing actually.

A major thing is my modeling career is about to really start and so many things are not really settled. My finances for Japan isn't quite set. I'm hoping that my tax returns will come in time to give me an extra boost but that isn't quite for certain. Why do these correlate with each other? Modeling is quite damn expensive to get a start in. Your agent might give you some costly "advice"  to help improve your career. Photographers for your portfolio is also expenisve at first, getting to casting calls (if you don't live in nyc) can be costly. It's alot being thrown at you.

Then with school.... my fiancial aid got messed up, so things are bit more complicated. I am attending school, but I'm stressing over getting it fixed as soon as possible so I can possibly buy my textbooks.


But Japan. This post is all about Japan.

I still don't have a passport and I'm leaving in 7 weeks. *begins slow claps*

I don't know what to do with my hair either. Don't think I'll be able to afford box braids or full head weave but I don't want to have my hair out because we are going to Hawaii after Japan annnd I'm filming in both locations. I might buy a wig, idk..

Then the elephant in the room returns! I have to tone up my tummy or else for this trip. I'm going to be in a bikini in Hawaii and I'm going to wear some fitted clothing in Japan.... err. Lovely right?

And I need to buy some circle lenses >__< I need a pair for all my shoost, my birthday, and etc. I swear by them so much, there is never a photographer who dare tells me take them out. 


Well everything else is settled.

I leave in March and I'm traveling with my sister to Shinjuku and Shibuya. We have a nice ittenary that involves visiting Meji Shrine, Alice in Wonderland Resturant and other things. Beside my one day filming and maybe a photoshoot sess with an amazing photograher, the whole idea is just to enjoy being in my dream city. (But for the sake of supersition and my bad luck trend I'm not trying to announce too much)

I don't want to shop too much because 1. I don't want to disappoint myself with clothes that won't fit and 2. Tokyo is uber expensive.

Hopefully, my jobs will have hours again soon and my budget will become beautiful. Hopefully I get some paid gigs too. If anything I'm just going to have to get a third job on campus (Yes that sounds quite wonderful).

You need to cheat sum liz lisa this spring ? That's kinda hard. It's one of a kind you know! For you guys who don't know anything about the brand and wondering why I am always raving about it (blame Cheesie for my obsession), Liz Lisa is a Japanese fashion brand that is aimed at girls 15-21. It takes themes from Sweet Lolita (japanese fashion subculture) and makes it Gyaru (another japanese fashion subculture) approved style. It's known for it's printed dresses, flowy silhouettes, and bunches of lace and other super girly things.  '

The only trusted place I know of that sells Liz Lisa to the US, SG, and Malaysia is http://www.minimaos.com . There is no Liz Lisa Webstore for Americans. But be for warn, Liz Lisa is not like your average Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe where everything is $10-$70. Liz Lisa items can cost $30- $200. But for such good clothes, don't expect it to be cheap. Compare it to designer clothes prices.

DON'T BUY FROM SWEET GYARU SHOP.  The clothes are all fake, horrible quality, and if they had sponsored me with free clothes, they wouldn't be having such bad publicity (I'm unabashed okay). But it's true, its true. Their clothes are fake and they price as if it's real. Wtf, I mean if the clothes are fake then drop the price by $30! Then people would still buy (and I still want free clothes :P)

Fashion of the Week #2

This week's fashion of the week is more pics I found on the web that I felt were inspiring. I have been so busy lately to take any pictures of my own or do my things. And more or less been uninspired and slightly distraught. I never understand why people can say the most hurtful things to fellow human beings.

Jelly Magazine November 2011 *pic heavy*

I finally added back the followers bar since I never did design a facebook thingy so dismally, I only have 5 followers -__-" . I'm still quite busy, so I'm rolling out another magazine for you guys to read to cover for the time in between posts. I actually have a lot of cool things to post about but of course time is never on my side :( So I hope you guys enjoy the magazine.

Gyaru in the west and in the east

What I really hate that we westerners always trying to make rules about gyaru. Like wtf as far as I am aware these rules don't exist. Let me set up example that I read about the most.

#1: Gyaru must be supper thin. We  must model type shapes. If you want to be fat go join Lolitas.

Um excuse me who the heck made you all high and mighty to say that we all must be thin. We all have different body types. Men in general prefer a woman with meat on her bones. Men have declared that they like women with a little bit of love handles the best. The women you see in Gyaru magazines are Models! Do you know what that means?  They are suppose to be thin! They are size zero! You know why? So they can fit into any clothes without difficulty!  In the U.S yes their is a becoming more of a variety of sizes in magazines but even here most models are size 0. In Japan and everywhere else their is women with various shapes. If you google (google.jp) gyaru (must be in kanji ギャル for accurate results)  you'll see gyaru (mostly models)  but you'll find a few of average size girls. However Japan is a very healthy society and they actually have a law against obesity. Most women are thin. Doesn't mean you have to be. Though I don't condone obesity. Seriously I had gained a lot of weight at one point and was near overweight (by statistic) and I worked my but off to stay in the healthy zone of my bmi. Not because to be gyaru you must be thin. Never, I just rather not have health risks

#2 If you don't have pale skin naturally you can't be gyaru
I hate it the most when people say that.  A japanese person should tell them "If your not Japanese  you can't be gyaru."  You know why they open their arms for us to wear their style? Because American styles suck! So if you want to be races I can call up a japanese person and tell you can't be gyaru because your not japanese. And besides the point; most gyarus have tans so where does skin color come to play here?
 
#3 If you don't do this or that you are not gyaru
Gyaru is about charisma! It wasn't made to look like a clone of other people. So everyone has their own twist on it, that's how new styles are made and that's how gyaru keeps on getting bigger and has lasted more than a decade. So don't tell people who they are or not because they changed up one thing! Worry about your own damn self.
